Linn County and the City of Ely are updating an existing fringe area agreement, which was adopted in 2007. Fringe area agreements help to plan for and define processes for development in the unincorporated area within two miles of a city. Information regarding the open house that is being held as part of the public input process is below. A survey is available on this site for community members who are unable to attend to provide input. Dates for future Planning and Zoning and City Council/Board of Supervisor meetings reviewing/approving the updated agreement will be posted here when they are scheduled.

    The updated City of Ely and Linn County Fringe Area Plan and Agreement is drafted and the review process will begin June 10 at the City of Ely Planning & Zoning Commission followed by the Linn County Planning & Zoning Commission on June 17. Once both bodies have recommended approval, the City Council and Board of Supervisors can review and approve the plan and agreement.

    The City of Ely is hosting an open house for the fringe area agreement update to provide an opportunity for residents to learn about proposed changes and provide input. Community members can drop in between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Ely City Hall, 1570 Rowley St. Community members who are not able to attend the Open House can provide input through the survey on this website.
